How to create a dynamic sitemap in WeWeb for SEO purposes?

Step 1: Understand What is a Sitemap

A sitemap is essentially a map of your website. It provides a list of all pages, posts, images and other files on your site. This map allows search engines like Google to find essential pages on your site hence improving your SEO (search engine optimization). In the context of WeWeb, a dynamic sitemap automatically adds new pages to the sitemap as you create them.

Step 2: Create a WeWeb Account

To develop a dynamic sitemap in WeWeb, you need to have a WeWeb account. If you do not have an account, go to the WeWeb website (www.weweb.io), click on ‘Signup’ button, enter the required information then follow the prompts to create an account.

Step 3: Set Up a New Website

Once logged in to your WeWeb account, click on the "+ New site" button to start building your website. Choose a website category that closely matches your website's purpose, then select a template that fits your aesthetic and functional requirements. Customize your website by adding and editing pages as needed.

Step 4: Enable Sitemap Creation

Now, you need to enable your website to create a sitemap. To do this, go to your website editor and look for the settings option. This is usually represented by a gear icon on the left-hand menu. Click it and select ‘SEO’.

Step 5: Generate the Dynamic Sitemap

In the SEO settings, there should be an option for ‘Dynamic Sitemap’. Enable it by clicking on the switch button next to it. This will let WeWeb generate a dynamic sitemap for your website. The sitemap URL in WeWeb will generally look like this: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

Step 6: Customizing the Sitemap

With the dynamic sitemap now active, you have the option to customize it. Under the sitemap settings, you can choose the pages you want to include in the sitemap. For instance, you might want to exclude certain pages from being indexed by search engines like your terms and conditions or privacy policy page.

Step 7: Save Your Changes

After making your selections, save your changes. This will allow WeWeb to start automatically creating and updating your sitemap as you add, delete, or modify pages on your site.

Step 8: Submit the Sitemap to Google

The last important step is to submit your sitemap to Google. To do this, you will need a Google Search Console account. Once you have this, add your website as a property in the console, and then submit your sitemap URL for indexing.

Remember, a dynamic sitemap is a smart move for any website owner. It helps search engines to see any new additions to your website on a regular basis, which can improve your SEO and boost your site visibility. Be patient, however, as it may take some time for the changes to reflect on search engines.
