Step 1: Get Your Smartsheet API Key
Before linking Bubble.io with Smartsheet, we need to generate an API key from Smartsheet. An API key is a unique identifier that allows different software to interact.
Go to the Smartsheet website, log in to your account and click on Account in the top right corner of the screen. From the drop-down menu, select Personal Settings. In the next tab, click on the API Access page. Here, tap on the Generate new access token button to create a new API key.
After you have generated the key, it's necessary to keep it in a safe place because it won't be displayed again for security reasons.
Step 2: Set Up Smartsheet Plugin in Bubble.io
After your API key is generated, it's time to move to your Bubble.io account. You need to install the Smartsheet plugin in order to establish the integration.
Once you are logged in to your Bubble.io account, click on the Plugins button located in the left panel of your Bubble.io dashboard. Then, click on the '+Add plugins' button and search for the 'Smartsheet' plugin in the search box. Click on the plugin and then click the 'Install this plugin' button.
Step 3: Add Your Smartsheet API Key to Bubble.io
When you have the Smartsheet plugin installed, it's time to provide Bubble.io your Smartsheet API key.
Click on the Plugins button again to go back to your plugins list. Here, you will see the Smartsheet plugin in the list. On the Smartsheet plugin line, there are several input fields. Fill in the field labelled 'Secret API Key' with the Smartsheet API key you've generated before.
Step 4: Configure the Smartsheet Plugin Settings
In order to get the plugin working properly, it's necessary to configure its settings. In the Smartsheet plugin line, click on Settings.
Here, you can configure which Smartsheet features you would like to use in your app.
Step 5: Add Workflow Actions
Now that you have integrated Smartsheet with Bubble, you can create actions in your app that trigger different operations in Smartsheet.
To do this, go to the Workflow tab on the Bubble editor. Create a new action and select the Smartsheet plugin from the Plugin section. Once you've done that, a list of operations will be available for you to choose from.
You can create new rows in a specific Smartsheet, update rows, delete rows and much more.
Step 6: Use Data from Smartsheet in Your Bubble.io App
Apart from triggering actions in Smartsheet, you can also display the data from Smartsheet in your Bubble.io application.
To do this, add a new element to your page. In the Element's Data Source, select 'Get data from an API.' Then, choose the Smartsheet plugin and select the data type you want to show.
Then, save your application and run it in order to verify if the integration is working correctly.
